The Thomas H. Davis Ecotourism Centre is a small but modern lodge built in accordance with its natural surroundings. The open-air design allows intimate contact with nature and the soothing sounds of the rushing Umachaca River. The Maquipucuna Lodge:
  • Is surrounded by 35,000 acres of both primary and secondary forest located within the Choco-Andean Bioregion, one of the world's top-five biodiversity hot spots.
  • Is staffed with guides and service personnel mainly from the local communities.
  • Provides comfortable accommodations for up to 30 people in five separate bedrooms and shared bathrooms, 3 suites with private bathrooms, and a family cabin with private bathrooms. All bathrooms offer hot showers.
  • Offers a magnificent porch where you can relax to the sounds of the forest in the warm caressing breezes and flying colours against the solid, dripping cape of green, green, green.
  • Has a full kitchen that serves three meals a day utilizing the best of local ingredients and recipes. An abundance of fresh vegetables are grown and served from the Reserve's own organic garden.
  • Is adjacent to a research station with facilities which may accommodate up to 18 researchers.
